Gov. Doug Burgum issued the following statement after the North Dakota Supreme Court issued an opinion making its previous opinion in Board of Trustees of the ND Public Employees Retirement System v. ND Legislative Assembly effective immediately. The court declared Senate Bill 2015, the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) appropriations bill, void immediately.

Gov. Doug Burgum released a statement regarding the passing of former North Dakota Lt. Gov. Rosemarie Myrdal, who represented District 11 in the North Dakota House from 1985 to 1992 and served as lieutenant governor from 1993 to 2000 with Gov. Ed Schafer. Myrdal died Wednesday at age 94.

Gov. Doug Burgum announced the retirement of North Dakota Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (DOCR) Director Dave Krabbenhoft, effective Dec. 31, thanking him for his innovative leadership and his nearly four decades of dedicated service to the State of North Dakota.

Gov. Doug Burgum has directed all government agencies to fly the United States and North Dakota flags at half-staff from sunrise Wednesday, Oct. 11, until sunset Friday, Oct. 13, and encourages North Dakotans to do the same at their homes and businesses, as a mark of respect for the victims of the attacks on Israel by Hamas terrorists. The Governor’s Residence also will be lit up in blue and white, the colors of the Israeli flag, to show support for the U.S. ally and its people.

Gov. Doug Burgum issued a statement regarding this weekend’s attacks on Israel by Hamas terrorists. Burgum also connected via phone with Father Phil Ackerman of Holy Cross Catholic Church in West Fargo who is among a group of 84 North Dakotans in Bethlehem awaiting flights back to the United States.

Gov. Doug Burgum and Maj. Gen. Alan Dohrmann, adjutant general of the North Dakota National Guard, released the following statements today regarding the deaths of state Sen. Doug Larsen of Mandan, his wife, Amy, and their two young sons, as a result of a plane crash Sunday in Utah. Larsen was a 29-year member of the North Dakota Army National Guard and had served in the state Senate since 2021, representing District 34.
